Eat : Wan Thai Langkawi Restaurant @ Kuah, Langkawi

Hi Foodie Yo!

Today, I would like to share with you all my lunch experience in Wan Thai Langkawi Restaurant @ Kuah, Langkawi. It is a Thai-Malay Restaurant located in Kuah, one of the busiest town in Langkawi.

The Menu

These are what we have ordered!

1. Tomyam Ta-Lay (Tomyam Seafood) - RM25.00 (Medium)

The soup is as spicy and sour as I want it to be. I like how the soup has that 'kick'. It was supposed to be a 'seafood' tomyam but the waitress informed us that they only have prawn. There were only 6-8 piece of average -size prawn, very few piece of mushroom and tomato. Another thing about the dish is that the pot does not come with heater or fire below the soup. The soup was good at first when it is hot and spicy. However, over the lunch, your soup become cold.

2. Phad Phak Ruam Mid (Fried Mixed Vegetable) - RM20.00 (Medium)

Selection of combined vegetables makes the dish looks beautiful! It consists of carrot, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. There is also a decent amount of Vegetables have mild taste and you can still feel the crunchiness of the broccoli and cauliflower. Not over-cooked. I hardly feel thirsty after the meal, so I assume that not much/ no MSG was added.

3. Khai Cheaw (Omelette) - RM9.00 (Large)

I love this! Fluffy Omelette with some mushrooms and onions. Whisked egg deep fry under hot wok. The more I eat the more I crave. Every spoonful you can really taste the fragrant of the egg đŸ’—. It will be great if it is less salty. A bit over-salty to my liking but still taste good.

4. Plameak Shup Pang Tod (Deep Fried Squid in Batter) - RM28.00 (Medium)

The texture of the fried squid is not up to my expectation. I thought it would be chewy as I would like my squid to be. However, the squid here is hard to chew and to swallow. A bit disappointed with this dishđŸ˜–đŸ˜–. Good thing is that the portion is big enough for 5. It will be perfect if it taste at least better.

5. Hor-Muk-Mar Pao Onn (Steam Seafood in Coconut with Cream and Curry, Otak-otak) - RM35.00

Ordered this as many review recommended this. Not sure if I ordered the wrong one but this is another disappointment. As first, the waitress told us that they do not have coconut today, so we are ok with aluminium. Secondly, this dish was served pretty late. We have finish out meal before this was served. Taste ok, but RM35 for this small portion is not worthy. Unless they have the coconut (which makes the otak-otak more fragrant), otherwise, don't bother ordering this.

Summary
I like it how they put some effort in presenting plain rice, serving water with light pandan fragrant, and fancy plate presentation.
Plain Rice
Overall bill sums up to only RM124, which I found moderately cheap. There were more goodness having lunch here comparing to the down-side.
